Prometheus
Prometheus was charged with a crime
For helping humanity survive. He gave them fire And paid the price,
Punished for choosing what was right.
In my heart, I have evil. I have anger.
I have no patience.
But still, his spirit lives in me,
A fire that will not leave me be.
The greater good compels my hand.
It makes me act.
It makes me stand.
Even when no one understands,
Even when they all condemn.
To be ostracized and criticized, To have my motives twisted into lies.
To give my fire and take the blame,
While everyone forgets my name.
I know that I am hard to love.
I know I am not understood.
But I will still do what I must, Because the greater good is good.
And like Prometheus, I may be chained,
Hated, punished, cursed and blamed.
But even then, I will not hide
The fire that burns for humankind.
