unsatisfied
Unsatisfied, consumed by self pity,
I wallow alone where the darkness finds me.
I search for a reason, some explanation,
For this endless hunger and quiet frustration.
Why do I yearn, why do I desire
The very same thing that will build my pyre?
A fleeting temptation, a momentary high,
That will never endure when the flames finally die.
I reach for the things I can never possess,
And carry an evil I cannot confess.
The good within suffers and slowly pays the price,
Though nothing I want is worth the sacrifice.
Still I surrender, still chained to my vice,
Forever ungrateful, regardless the price.
No pleasure can fill me, no answer is right,
And still I remain unsatisfied.
